The Independent Review Board formally commenced the Inquiry on 14 February 2005. Click here for a copy of the media release.

The Independent Review Board is tasked to prepare a report based on the Inquiry's Terms of Reference, with recommendations for consideration by the LGA and for public (community) debate.

The Independent Review Board is required to report its findings by no later than six months from the Inquiry's commencement.

The Independent Review Board's report will be a public document.

The Independent Review Board expects to:

• publish a Discussion Paper for public comment and submissions;

• gather information on current developments and policies impacting upon Councils' financial sustainability from a range of Councils;

• publish an Interim Report, for further public comment and submissions;

• conduct a series of public hearings or consultations across of range of locations in South Australia; and

• publish its Final Report.
