To assist Councils to prepare for the assessment of wind farm developments, the LGA is holding a Wind Farms Education Forum on Thursday 10 November 2011 in Adelaide. The Forum will assist Council planners and Development Assessment Panel Members to interpret and apply wind farm policy and provide an understanding of the common issues and challenges for Councils in dealing with wind farm developments. Attendance at this free event is highly recommended for Councils with potential to experience wind farm development.
The Ministerial Statewide Wind Farm Development Plan Amendment (DPA) was released for public consultation on 19 October 2011. The DPA has been released on interim operation and new or amended policy guiding the assessment of development applications involving wind farms is currently active in fifty-five Development Plans across South Australia.
It is recognised that the assessment of development applications involving wind farms may present new challenges to Council planning staff and Development Assessment Panel Members. The LGA is holding a Wind Farm Policy Education Forum on Thursday 10 November 2011. The purpose of the Forum is to provide an overview of the policies contained in the Statewide Wind Farms DPA and assist in the interpretation and application of the policies. The common issues and challenges facing Councils will also be discussed from a legal perspective.
The details of the Forum are provided below:
