The draft ‘South Australian Community Wastewater Management System (CWMS) Design Criteria’ applies to community wastewater management schemes outside the areas serviced by SA Water.
CWMS Design Guidelines Rev G - For Public Consultation(1409 kb)
It replaces the STEDS Design Criteria, which was published by the LGA in conjunction with DHA and last updated in 1996. Technology and industry practice has changed during this time, and the draft SA CWMS Design Criteria has addressed these changes. Additionally, all types of community wastewater systems are now covered, including full sewage, and effluent only (septic tank disposal) schemes.
The draft SA CWMS Design Criteria includes a method to determine design loads, which gives designers clear criteria for all systems and components thereof. There are also clearer requirements for pump stations and wastewater treatment systems including emergency storage requirements.
A workshop to present the Draft SA CWMS Design Criteria will be held in early February 2018. Further details will be announced closer to the date. Please register your interest via email to HealthWastewaterManagement@sa.gov.au by 14 December 2017.
