Summary The LGA is holding a suite of free climate risk management briefings for Elected Members and training sessions for council staff on topics including economic development, financial risk management and asset management, public health, and planning.

Climate risks result from extreme weather and incremental changes in our climate. As the climate changes and the frequency of extreme events increases, so does the magnitude of risk.

These sessions and briefings will provide climate risk management information that will ensure that Elected Members and council staff understand relevant risks, roles and responsibilities. Staff training sessions will be based on the LGA’s Climate Risk Management guidance notes. A copy of these guidelines will be available for Elected Members at the briefing sessions.

Training sessions and briefings will be delivered by a variety of presenters who will share practical examples of their experiences with climate risk management in the context of each topic.
