Further to the LGA circular from Stephen Smith on 11 September about the Parliamentary Inquiry, the LGA has decided to make its own submission to the Inquiry. This is because of significant interest in this topic from several councils.
You are welcome to make an individual submission, but if you would like your perspective incorporated into the LGA submission, please let me have any comments by Friday 28 September.
In particular, could you please let me know about any overabundant and pest species which are of concern to your council, other than the Little Corellas.
Any comments previously provided through the LGA’s Little Corellas Forum on 31 July 2018 will be incorporated into the LGA submission.
As a reminder about the terms of reference of the inquiry:
The Natural Resources Committee resolved to inquire into the management of overabundant and pest species in South Australia with particular reference to:
1. Efficacy of existing or novel regulatory, policy and partnering frameworks used to manage overabundant and pest species
2. Costs of managing overabundant and pest species
3. Impacts of overabundant and pest species on agricultural outputs, environmental values, tourism, road safety, and amenity
4. Any other related matters.
Interested councils may make a submission by Friday 5 October 2018.
