This Circular provides registration and program information. Registrations close on 26 April.

The Local Government Information Technology SA’s 'Blinded by the Light' Conference and Workshop is being held on Thursday and Friday, 2 and 3 May 2019. In response to regional demand, this previously "rural" workshop is now being held in the Adelaide CBD. The two day event has been modified to provide a conference format on day one and a workshop format on day two. This approach continues the delivery of high rating presentations and provides the opportunity for attendees to participate in workshops with their peers. The Conference and Dinner on day 1 will be held at the Pullman Hotel Adelaide and the Members Only Workshop on day 2 will be held at the Ibis Hotel Adelaide.

Collaboration continues to achieve greater outcomes and efficiencies for Local Government Information Management and Technology professionals, and the sector. As many look to the cloud, technology and solutions shine a light on opportunity but also presents blinding challenges that can obscure the vision we aim to achieve. Drawing together, the LGITSA conference and workshop creates collaborative opportunities to keep sight of what’s important, how to achieve it and support others in charting a course to the next horizon.

The Conference day includes the following presentations and will be followed by a networking dinner:

  • Keynote Presentation ‘Who's in who's out: is the in-group in your organisation killing innovation?'
  • The importance of Data in Records
  • Gawler Business Innovation Hub
  • Ethics and Policy Implications of AI and New Technologies
  • Customer Journey Mapping
  • DPTI ePlanning
  • A panel on emerging technologies

The Workshop day comprises 6 sessions each with 2 workshop choices available. Each of the workshops aims to help participants to be better placed to deliver outcomes for their business and communities. The workshop topics are as follows:

  • Customer Journey Mapping
  • LGA Squiz and My Local Services App
  • Enterprise Mobility - City of Salisbury
  • Ethics for AI (Artificial Intelligence)
  • The DPTI Planning Portal
  • Business Intelligence and Data Management
  • The Practical aspects of GDS21
  • Records Archiving
  • IoT: Sensing Silver Bullets with the Internet of Things
