Summary Reconciliation SA are seeking registrations from interested local government staff and Elected Members to attend a workshop (to be held by Reconciliation Australia and Reconciliation SA) aimed at identifying the kinds of resources that need to be developed to support local government to improve their engagement with local Aboriginal communities. The workshop is anticipated to be held towards to the middle to end of August 2019 (date to be set).

The workshop will discuss the topic of ‘truth telling’ and how this can provide opportunities to invest in developing a positive and cohesive relationship between local Aboriginal communities and local government.

The workshop will also provide an opportunity for local governments to share the practical and real experience that they have undertaken as local champions for reconciliation.

As an outcome of this workshop (and others across Australia) Reconciliation SA are hoping to develop a pool of resources and possible frameworks that local governments can use to assist in the relationship building with local Aboriginal communities.

Please register your interest in attending the workshop via email to Shona Reid, Executive Director, Reconciliation SA at by 12 July 2019.
