Summary Member councils are invited to attend a consultation session on Wednesday 2 October 2019 with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator who are currently developing a Heavy Vehicle Productivity Plan to support all stakeholders in the management of the freight network.

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) is currently developing a national Heavy Vehicle Productivity Plan with a focus on:

·         Data identification, acquisition, and sharing.

·         Technology and systems for data-driven analysis and improved government and industry business efficiency.

·         Education and support for government and industry.

·         Modernised standards, continuation of regulatory reform and improved reform processes.

Over the past year, several state-based freight and supply chain strategies have been released that seek to deliver improved outcomes for roads and the national economy.

In support of these strategies, the NHVR is developing a plan to improve its role in supporting the freight network.

To date the LGASA Secretariat has represented SA councils on a working group, along with officers from local government associations in Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory.
