The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) is currently developing a national Heavy Vehicle Productivity Plan with a focus on:
Data identification, acquisition, and sharing.
Technology and systems for data-driven analysis and improved government and industry business efficiency.
Education and support for government and industry.
Modernised standards, continuation of regulatory reform and improved reform processes.
Over the past year, several state-based freight and supply chain strategies have been released that seek to deliver improved outcomes for roads and the national economy.
In support of these strategies, the NHVR is developing a plan to improve its role in supporting the freight network.
To date the LGASA Secretariat has represented SA councils on a working group, along with officers from local government associations in Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory.
