Council Best Practice Showcase and LGA Ordinary General Meeting

The 2020 Council Best Practice Showcase and LGA Ordinary General Meeting will be held at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on 2 & 3 April.


2020 Best Practice Showcase and OGM

This event is an opportunity for SA councils to share and demonstrate their projects and services with their peers and fellow councils and to learn about new and innovative ways that local government is delivering value to South Australian communities.

The LGA is inviting councils or any local government related organisations to submit a case studies, project or service to showcase at this event. 

Malcolm Alexander
Chief Executive, Local Government New Zealand

Malcolm leads LGNZ's management, relationships with its members and external stakeholders, and strategy and policy development.  Malcolm is a qualified lawyer and has practiced law in New Zealand and London.  Before LGNZ, he was at Genesis Energy where he held the position of General Manager, Corporate Affairs. Before that he was General Manager Market Services at M-co Limited responsible for management of the wholesale and retail electricity markets. 

He was a member of the Board of the New Zealand Council for Infrastructure Development between 2008 and 2012 and was the Independent Chair of the Telecommunications Carriers' Forum between 2002 and 2008.  He was Vice-President of the Harvard Business School Association of New Zealand from 2012 to 2015.  In 2016 he was appointed to the Victoria University School of Government Advisory Group and in June 2017 he was appointed to the Government’s Technical Advisory Group on the review of New Zealand’s civil defence arrangements.  Recently he has joined the Board of the Aotearoa Circle a grouping of large private and public entities dedicated to sustainable management of New Zealand’s natural resources.

What’s involved?

Councils can either submit an initiative to be displayed in the exhibition area of the showcase and/or as a presentation as part of the program. 

  • The display booth will be located in the exhibition area at the event, the LGA will provide the structure of the booth, fascia sign, trestle table and chairs. It is preferred that council booths are staffed during the breaks of the two day event, two event passes will be provided to the council at no cost for staff to service the booth, these passes can be shared between multiple staff across the two days.

  • The presentation will be on 2 April and will go for approximately 10-20 minutes.
