Environmental Health

Environmental Health is the concerned with the impact of the environment on public health.

This involves the investigation, assessment, management and protection of the physical, chemical, biological, and social factors in our environment that have the potential to impact on human health and wellbeing.

Environmental Health professionals are entrusted to:

  • Ensure proactive leadership and community education
  • Encourage collaboration and partnerships between people, communities, businesses and governments
  • Develop innovations in environmental management

Environmental Health practice covers a broad range of issues such as:

  • Communicable diseases
  • Disaster response and management
  • Dangerous goods
  • Ecological sustainable development
  • Environmental protection
  • Food safety
  • Health promotion
  • Public health
  • Waste management
  • Water quality and re-use
  • Waste water disposal
  • Policy development and law
  • Both field and office work

Requirements

  • An accredited undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in Environmental Health 
  • A passion to enhance human health and wellbeing
  • An interest in sustainable development and environmental protection
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good resources and time management skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
