Unable to vote

There may be instances where you are unable to receive your ballot pack required or mail your ballot paper to cast your vote at your council election. Depending on the circumstances, you may still be able to vote.

Requesting a new ballot pack

Enrolled to vote but did not receive a ballot pack in the mail? You can request a replacement ballot pack from Electoral Commission SA (ECSA) by calling 1300 655 232.

You can also request for a replacement ballot pack if the original ballot pack you received was damaged, destroyed, or issued for the incorrect ward.

If you have made a mistake in marking your ballot paper or declaration envelope, you can correct your mistake on the same ballot paper. As long as your intention is clear, your vote will still count. To ensure your correction is legible, simply cross out the mistake and write the correction alongside.

Unable to get to a post box

Ballot packs will be mailed out from Friday 14 October 2022. The voting period closes on Thursday 10 November 2022. This would allow sufficient time to return your ballot material. If you are still facing difficulties, please contact ECSA on 1300 655 232 to discuss alternative arrangements.

Travelling and out of the country

If you have received your ballot pack before leaving the country, you should complete your ballot papers as soon as possible and post your envelope to ECSA before your departure.

If you will be out of the country before ballot packs are sent from 14 October, please contact ECSA on 1300 655 232 to discuss your options.

Special assistance required to complete ballot paper

If you are unable to fill out your ballot or sign your declaration envelope, you can request assistance.

Please contact ECSA on 1300 655 232 if you need further information.
