Local Government Service Awards
As the peak body for local government, the LGA is proud to recognise the dedication of long-serving Elected Members, staff and volunteers through a series of local government service awards. These include service recognition awards for those who have contributed more than 10 years to local government.
To request a service certificate please complete the Recognition of service online form. The LGA needs a minimum of 6 weeks notice to post requested service certificates to councils.
Please note that certificates for Elected Members who have served local government for over 20 years are presented at the next LGA event opportunity following the completion of the relevant term of service.

Elected Members
Recognition of 20 and above service
Recognising currently serving Elected Members who have served Local Government for 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 or 50 years or more. Elected Member can be presented with this certificate and badge at the next LGA event opportunity (this includes Elected Members who have served local government as both a staff member and currently as an Elected Member.)
Recognition of 10 or 15 years service
Recognising currently serving Elected Members who have served local government for 10 or 15 years. This is certificate is posted to council.
Council Staff
Recognition of 10 years and above service
Recognising council officers (staff) who have served local government for 10 years or more (full time equivalent). Service is recognised in 5 year increments (10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 or 50). This certificate is posted to council.
Volunteers
Recognition of 10 years and above service
Recognising volunteers who have assisted councils and their community with their volunteering for 10 years or more. Service is recognised in 5 year increments (10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 or 50). This certificate is posted to council.
