Shovel Ready program

Shovel Ready is a new LGA program that supports councils to prepare, plan and deliver projects that will help rebuild SA's communities after COVID-19.

Strong advocacy from the LGA and ALGA this year has resulted in millions of dollars of funding being allocated to local government for stimulus projects.

In total, SA councils will receive an additional $180 million through the expansion of the Commonwealth’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, and the State Government’s new Local Government Infrastructure Partnership Program.

Working with the LGFA, LGA Procurement, LG Professionals SA and Norman Waterhouse Lawyers, the LGA has created the Shovel Ready program to provide councils with a wide variety of services and resources to help prepare, plan and deliver projects in a challenging market.

Shovel Ready Connect

As part of the Shovel Ready program, the LGA has launched Shovel Ready Connect. This is a free service offering an independent sounding board to assist councils to prepare, plan and deliver economic stimulus projects for their communities.

Shovel Ready Connect is available now and is easy, confidential and free.  To register your council’s interest in the 1-hour sessions with a panel of trusted local government legal, finance, procurement and strategic advisory partners, please call the Shovel Ready hotline on 8224 2021 or email shovelready@lga.sa.gov.au.
