The LGA understands that the State government, as part of its planning reform, has commenced consultation with local government on the Proclamation of Planning Regions provided for in the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 (SA) through the report: Proclamation of Planning Regions recommendations report by the Minster for Planning(3629 kb)
Planning regions provide the geographic area for which regional plans must be prepared, but can also be used to support collaboration across state and local government in the delivery of services.
The LGA has been invited to provide a submission on behalf of its membership.
The LGA is interested in any key issues that your council has identified as part of this consultation.
Further, the LGA is interested to learn if your council has any concerns in relation to other state government agency regions (NRM, health etc) and if your council believes it be preferable to have more consistent regions across the state.
If you have any feedback or comments on inconsistent state government boundaries, or if your council has already prepared a response to DPTI on the proclamation of planning regions consultation, could you please send your responses through to Brianna McGee
