Keys points

  • The Alert SA App is available to download.
  • Visit the Apple App or Google Play stores to access the App.
  • Alert SA’s first release focuses on bushfire warnings and information.
  • Additional feeds for other hazards will be built into Alert SA during 2020.

Alert SA displays bushfire alerts, warnings, updates, Fire Danger Ratings and Total Fire Bans. Users are able to create multiple Watch Zones, specifying areas of interest to them.

SAFECOM have provided the following to assist councils in sharing this information with their staff, volunteers, elected members and communities;

A public awareness campaign was released, titled ‘Stay Alert SA’ on Thursday 12 December 2019, encouraging the community to download the App and stay informed about bushfire warnings in South Australia.

Additional feeds for other hazards will be built into Alert SA during 2020.

Suggested actions for councils to consider;

  • For those councils with access to the Emergency Splash page in unity or squiz, it would be recommended that the Alert SA link is placed on this page.
  • Amplify the campaign messaging about the release of Alert SA to the community via councils social and other media.
  • Alert SA app be a standard install on workers devices, especially those that work in, travel through or live in bushfire prone areas.

The LGA’s Emergency Management Support Unit will update the i-Responda Training to include Alert SA as a recommended situational awareness tool.

For more information about Alert SA, please visit . This website also provides direct download links to the Apple App Store and Google Play Stores.

The LGA will continue to work with SAFECOM to ensure councils receive information about any updates to the app for you to share with your staff, volunteers and elected members as well as your community.
