The Minister for Health and Wellbeing – Excellence in Public Health Awards acknowledge and celebrate outstanding contributions by councils to public health in their communities. The Awards increase recognition of public health initiatives across South Australia, and their benefits for local health and wellbeing.
As public health authorities under the South Australian Public Health 2011, councils demonstrate leadership and innovation and play a key role in creating the environments for communities to prosper and enjoy improved health and wellbeing.
Metropolitan and regional councils are encouraged to nominate a single initiative that has resulted in public health benefits for their community, and has demonstrable evidence of positive impacts. The 2020 entry criteria include:
- An ongoing commitment to core public health functions and/or
- A new approach for council towards addressing a public health need
Applications close: 5pm Thursday 12 March 2020.
Finalists announced: Friday 20 March 2020
Winners announced: Friday 3 April 2020 at the LGA Ordinary General Meeting
