The Local Government Association is facilitating a series of forums to inform the local government sector about the ‘Local government Reform’ process and to encourage debate within individual councils. At most of the forums, the Office of Local Government will give a brief presentation on the State government’s reform discussion paper.
Who should attend?
Mayors, Elected Members, CEOs, relevant senior staff (such as Governance Officers).
What will occur?
Presentations will be kept to a minimum. Each session is intended to be interactive so questions can be asked, opinions expresses and tested.
The forums aims to ensure that the local government sector:
- understands the risks and opportunities of the reform process; and
- can make an informed and articulate response to the State government.
What will happen after that?
Each council is encouraged to consider the issues raised and to deliberate on the issues at their respective council meetings.
The Local Government Association will continue to advocate on all issues, based upon member feedback.
