Funding the future – A new coastal management approach
This project's final report and evaluation was completed on 26 October 2021
The project has resulted in a contemporary Needs Analysis and Literature Review of the funding landscape for coastal management in SA as well as a discussion paper proposing a number of recommendations for SACCA and its partners to pursue.
Project achievements
The project has met the expectations of the original application. It has done so with the provision of a:

- Discussion Paper
- Advocacy Paper.
Project outputs and outcomes
Outcomes expressed in the project application refer to the introduction of a more sustainable and equitable coastal funding model for SA coastal councils. This project has identified a range of issues in achieving this and has identified several recommendations for SACCA and its partner stakeholders to pursue with State and Federal Governments.
Project distribution
SACCA will distribute the report to all Regional LGA’s the MSCC and their coastal council members via email. SACCA will present the findings at various meetings/forums and consult with councils and the LGA on the advocacy required to pursue the objectives of the project.
Project evaluation
SACCA established a project management committee utilising the support of leading coastal management representatives from the CPB, the SACCA EO, a metropolitan council and a regional LGA. The committee considered the milestones and deliverables from the project consultants at various stages of the project and provided advice to SACCA.
