Adelaide Coastal Councils Network
Who are we?
The Adelaide Coastal Councils Network is committed to the proactive, contemporary and sustainable management of the metropolitan Adelaide coastline.
Members of the network are:
- Local Government Association of South Australia
- City of Charles Sturt
- City of Holdfast Bay
- City of Marion
- City of Onkaparinga
- City of Port Adelaide Enfield
- City of Salisbury
- City of West Torrens
The LGA is responsible for hosting and supporting the network. Activities are coordinated by an Executive Officer and overseen by an Executive Committee.

Projects underway
The network is responsible for delivering several projects that contribute to integrated coastal management across Adelaide’s metropolitan coastline.
The Climate Ready Coasts project is a $3.7 million Federally funded joint initiative involving the State Government’s Department for Environment and Water and the LGA. Network members are part of the Project Management Group and have a key role in the project's governance.
The Climate Ready Coasts project aims to:
- develop a coordinated and consistent approaches to coastal adaptation
- improve understanding of coastal risk
- increase the capacity for and confidence in coastal adaptation planning
- ensure evidence-based decision making and investment in the coast
Background
The Adelaide Coastal Councils Network was established in October 2022. It replaces the former Metropolitan Seaside Councils Committee which had been operating for over fifty years as a body of local government representatives.
