SLRP Funding - FAQs

On this page you will find some of the frequently asked questions about the Special Local Roads Program (SLRP) grant funding.

2024-25 SLRP grant funding round

The 2023-24 SLRP Grant funding round will open at 9 am, Monday 4 March and close at 4 pm, Monday 29 April 2024.

Applications for the 2024-25 SLRP Grant funding round must be submitted via the LGA’s online Grant Management System, Smarty Grants.  A link will be made available on the SLRP page when the grant round opens.

All South Australian councils are eligible to apply for SLRP funding. Applications for SLRP funding must be submitted by the applicants CEO or CEO’s approved delegate.

Projects for the construction and maintenance of strategic and significant local roads, whose benefits exceed the boundary of the council and its community.

Applications for SLRP funding must include a Council contribution of no less than one-third of the total project cost for rural and regional councils, and no less than one-half of the total project cost for metropolitan councils.

To request an extension, you must contact the SLRP Coordinator vie email slrp@lga.sa.gov.au before the closing date, clearly stating the reason for the request. Please note that not all requests will be approved, and to be considered you must have started your application.

Please contact the LGA Coordinator via email slrp@lga.sa.gov.au as soon as possible, clearly stating your application number, to request that your application form is re-opened.

Once the form has been re-opened you can log back into Smarty Grants and make your amendments. Noting you will need to ensure that you re-submit the application by the due date for your application to be considered.

It is our intention to notify all applicants of the outcome of the assessment process by September 2024.

Current SLRP Projects

Please notify the SLRP Coordinator as soon as possible, via email slrp@lga.sa.gov.au

You will be asked to complete a Final Report for your project. The template will be made available to you on Smarty Grants. The LGTAP will review the information provided in the Final Report at their next meeting and will make a determination regarding possible repayment of unspent funds.

You will then be advised of the next steps, which may include completing a form on Smarty Grants to provide additional information about your situation (i.e. Extension Request Form or Change in Scope Application Form).
