Local Government Marketing Campaign of the Year Award

This award celebrates and recognises great South Australian local government marketing campaigns. It is an opportunity for councils to reflect on the work they do and acknowledge their success with recent campaigns.

Designed to showcase South Australia’s best, the MarStars Award is the opportunity to share your standout campaign and be recognised for your team’s creativity and effort.

Winners

  • 2023 Winner: City of Marion for their Kitchen Caddy Campaign
  • 2023 Finalist: Renmark Paringa Council for their response to the 2022 River Murray Floods
  • 2023 Finalist: City of Adelaide for their Stop and Sort - Public Space Organics Recycling Campaign

The 2023 Local Government Marketing Campaign of the Year winners were announced on Friday 24 March at the 2023 Local Government Communicators Conference.

Entries for this year have now closed, with nominations for the 2024 Awards expected to open early next year.

Who is eligible

  • Eligible entities: All elected local government organisations (councils and other recognised organisations that provide direct services to South Australian communities) are eligible to nominate a campaign. If developed with other organisations, the local government entity must be the lead applicant. All nominations require endorsement by council management prior to submission.
  • Primary entry: One local government organisation must be the lead on every entry. This is the case even when the submission has multiple collaborating partners with other councils or organisations. Acknowledgment and reference to those partners can be made in the entry submission.
  • Funding partners: Councils that receive funding from other bodies (including Commonwealth bodies) may enter, but one local government entity must be the leading entity for the entry.

Why should you enter

If your council wins, and is awarded to have the best marketing campaign of the year you will get:

  • A trophy and certificate for your team.
  • A great marketing opportunity for your team and council, internally and with the media.
  • A professional achievement to include on your CV.

Judging criteria

Campaigns will not be judged on budget or size – all campaigns are eligible for entry and will be assessed equally.

Judges will be looking for a marketing campaign based on the following criteria:

  • creativity and innovation
  • clear strategy
  • effectiveness and results.
