Review of the 30-Year Plan for Greater Adelaide

In September 2021, the State Planning Commission announced it would review the current 30-Year Plan for Greater Adelaide. Following this announcement, the LGA’s Greater Adelaide Regional Organisation of Councils (GAROC) committee commissioned an issues paper. The purpose of this paper is to help councils engage with and respond to the State Planning Commission’s review.

Outcomes of the issues paper

The LGA’s issues paper highlighted:

  • the importance of a holistic approach to improving the planning system
  • the need to work towards planning outcomes that enable communities
  • the need to focus beyond j the assets and infrastructure needs to facilitate population growth in metropolitan areas.

The issues paper proposes 53 outcomes, across the areas of:

  • environment
  • communities
  • infrastructure
  • rural and regional planning.

The LGA will be providing this as a submission to the Expert Panel review in late 2022.
