Ahead of the AGM Conference, this year’s Mayors Forum will explore the role of civic leadership in navigating a period of transition in local government.
This builds on outcomes from the Mayor and CEO session, held on 28 May 2026.

What this event will cover
This full-day forum will provide an opportunity for mayors to reflect on their leadership experiences, strengthen their capacity to guide others and explore contemporary approaches to community engagement.
Sessions will examine the value of diverse perspectives, working constructively with conflict, and developing conflict intelligence to support early intervention and improve council dynamics.
Mayors will also explore the legislative tools and practical strategies available to foster a constructive council culture, strengthen relationships and manage risks to good governance.
