About the 3-day course
Over 3 days, participants will build a shared understanding of how coasts work, what is driving change along South Australian shorelines and how to translate technical information into practical outcomes.
This course will support state and local government officers to apply SA’s LGA Coastal Hazard Adaptation Planning Guidelines (PDF 7.8 MB), and coastal management more generally.
The course will draw on South Australian examples alongside national and international case studies and will provide opportunities for networking and peer learning.
Who should attend
This course is suited to staff across planning, sustainability, open space, assets, risk and engagement who are dealing with coastal risks, coastal planning or foreshore projects, assets and investments.
This subsidised course delivery is limited to South Australian local and state government employees.
Expressions of interest closed at 5pm Friday 30 January 2026.
Regional travel grants
A small number of regional travel grants are available for practitioners traveling from outside of greater Adelaide. These grants aim to subside travel and accommodation costs for attendees from organisations located outside of greater Adelaide.
Regional travel grants are offered on a first come first served basis and participants can indicate their interest in applying through the EOI form.
What the SA course will cover
The SA course delivery is a Level I delivery – Foundations. - Professor Rodger Tomlinson, Griffith University
- Professor Nick Harvey, University of Adelaide
- Dr Nicole Pelton, SA Department for Environment and Water
