Asset Management Plan Summary template

An Asset Management Plan Summary template for SA Councils. The template aims to complement and align (by summarising) the content of the ‘Infrastructure and Asset Management Plan’ required under the Local Government Act 1999.

Project summary

The Asset Management Plan Summary template enables councils to articulate their service objectives, costs and risks in a scalable and consistent way.

This project delivered:

  • A structured and consistent approach to writing asset management plans with such plans providing cash flow projections & inputs for the long-term financial plan.
  • Assists with community engagement on service level trade-offs, costs, and risks.
  • Demonstrates financial sustainability is within the grasp of most if not all councils.
  • Be an enabler for audit and follow-up.
  • Ensures asset management information and systems provide a reliable basis for decision making and reporting.
  • Enable councils to achieve and maintain core level maturity for Infrastructure Asset Planning in accordance with National Asset Management Assessment Framework that meet state-based legislative requirements.

Project outcomes

A structured, scalable and consistent approach for communicating the detail in the I&AM Plan. It is anticipated that the template will be an enabler for audit and follow-up by ESCOSA and the Department of Local Government.
