About the project
South Australia has over 5000 km of coastline with 90% of the population living on or near the coast. With 34 of the 68 SA councils responsible for coastal management in their region.
LGA worked in partnership with the Department of Environment and Water to successfully gain $3.7 million in funding from the Government Coastal and Estuarine Risk Management Program. The program guidelines do not allow for the funding of staffing and this cost and function needs to be met elsewhere.
This project purpose is to fund a dedicated project manager to manage the coastal adaptation project. They'll work with the approved project methodologies to successfully deliver the best outcomes for the sector.

Project funding
This project is funded through the Local Government Research and Development Scheme.
This scheme allocates funding to projects that support the development of SA local government. Successful applicants are decided through an annual grant round.
