Delivery of Climate Ready Coasts – stage 3
Climate Ready Coasts is a highly successful program, supported by state and federal government. In SA, this program is supporting all 34 coastal councils to address the impacts of climate change on their coastlines.
Who this is for
SA coastal councils wanting to build capability and plan for coastal adaptation.
What’s being delivered
A dedicated Program Manager was engaged to:
- lead program governance and stakeholder engagement
- coordinate research and data to support council decision-making
- oversee development of technical guidance, coastal hazard adaptation planning and peer-reviewed resources
- deliver capability-building workshops, stakeholder webinars and one-on-one council support.

About the project
Climate Ready Coasts is a nationally recognised program helping councils plan for sea level rise, coastal erosion and inundation.
This high-profile program is backed by $3.7 million in Federal Government funding, with additional contributions from the Coast Protection Board and Department for Environment and Water (DEW).
This project will provide continued program management to oversee:
- engagement with councils through workshops, webinars, and dedicated support
- procurement of consultants for data, planning guidelines and technical reviews
- governance through the Executive Steering Committee and Program Management Group.
Maintaining the current Program Manager ensures continuity, expertise and cost efficiency in delivering this complex, multi-stakeholder project.

Project funding
This project is funded through the Local Government Research and Development Scheme.
This scheme allocates funding to projects that support the development of SA local government. Successful applicants are decided through an annual grant round.
