Give your feedback on the LGFSG Plan Review – Engagement Report

20 September 2022
The LGA is asking for feedback on recommendations from an Engagement Report on the LG Functional Support Group Plan. Your feedback will inform the next steps in finalising the new plan.

The Local Government Functional Support Group (LGFSG) plays an important role in improving the capacity and capability of councils in emergency preparedness, response and recovery.

Earlier this year, we engaged an independent consultant to complete a review of the LGFSG Plan. All councils were invited to provide their feedback on the plan through a series of workshops and a survey.

An Engagement Report has been developed capturing outcomes of this consultation and made 17 recommendations to inform a new LGFSG Plan.

The recommendations are grouped into 8 key observations:

  • Clarity of scope
  • Flexibility in service delivery
  • Review activation triggers
  • Value of training and capacity building
  • Review business case for owning equipment and technology
  • Communication with members
  • Arrangement between LGFSG and councils

We have agreed, or partially agreed, with the 17 recommendations.

Give your feedback

Your feedback on the review’s recommendations is now being sought.

This will help shape the development of a new LGFSG plan and ensure we can best support the local government’s preparedness, response and recovery activities.
