Give your feedback on the Design Standard for Residential Driveway Crossovers

The State Planning Commission has introduced a set of design standards to work alongside the Planning and Design Code – a first for South Australia under the new planning system.
The standards aim to better integrate driveways with residential properties and public land. This is to make our streets safer and more enjoyable for our communities.
Under the design standard, new driveways should be positioned to allow:
- space for a street-tree in front of the home
- room to put bins out
- a suitable distance from roadside infrastructure, such as Stobie poles.
The draft design standard also ensures home builders consider the impacts of driveways on footpaths and car parking along the street.

The State Planning Commission welcomes feedback from councils on the new standard.
