State Government consultation – Linear Parks (Coast Parks) Amendment Bill

13 January 2023
The Minister for Planning is consulting on a draft Bill which seeks to provide greater legislative protection to Coast Parks.

The Draft Linear Parks (Coast Parks) Amendment Bill 2022 will allow completion of the 70km cycling and walking trail along Adelaide’s coastline.

The draft Bill will strengthen the establishment of the Linear Parks by giving it the statutory force of the SA Parliament and will give Coast Parks the same status as the River Torrens Linear Park.

The changes also make it easier for councils to manage and maintain Linear Parks in the future. This is by providing an ability for certain laws to be modified or excluded where they are not relevant to a Linear Park intended to operate as a walking and cycling path only and will not be open to vehicles.

Consultation on the draft Bill commenced on Monday 9 January 2023 and will conclude at 5:00 pm Friday 3 February 2023. Further information is available from the Plan SA 'Have your say' website. Feedback should be provided directly to plansasubmissions@sa.gov.au.
