Shape the future of the state’s infrastructure strategy

Released earlier last month by Infrastructure SA, the discussion paper seeks input on statewide infrastructure needs, strategic goals and priorities to 2045.

The consultation identifies six key strategic objectives which Infrastructure SA are seeking to achieve through the new strategy. The objectives are:

• Enabling infrastructure unlocks higher productivity and economic growth to improve our living standards.
• Liveable and well-planned places attract skilled people, support a growing population and create prosperous communities.
• Accessible and inclusive infrastructure supports social inclusion and economic participation.
• Infrastructure supports a decarbonised, sustainable economy that capitalises on our competitive advantages and opportunities.
• Improved resilience to shocks and events helps avoid or respond to disruptions that impact our economy, services and supply chains.
• A stronger infrastructure industry optimises our infrastructure investment through better planning and prioritisation.

The LGA will be preparing a submission to this consultation on behalf of member councils. This will consider feedback from councils and input to the Greater Adelaide Regional Plan.

An extended consultation period for the local government sector has been granted by the State Government.

The LGA is now seeking feedback from members to inform our submission. Feedback must be submitted by Tuesday 21 November 2023.
