Consultation on new Coastal Adaptation Guidelines and Implementation Model
Register now for our workshops being held in September.
What’s being reviewed?
We are seeking feedback on the direction of the Climate Ready Coasts program as we accelerate efforts with coastal hazard adaptation planning in South Australia.
Your feedback is being sought on the following documents:
- Draft Coastal Hazard Adaptation Planning Guidelines. These provide guidance on how to prepare a Coastal Hazard Adaptation Plan.
- Interim Implementation Model. This model explains how the guidelines may initially be implemented.
During consultation, information about the program will be shared including plans for the work underway in 2024-25. This will give councils the opportunity to share what’s worked and what’s missing.
Background
Climate change is causing rising seas, stronger storms and increasing the risks from coastal hazards. This is putting people, homes, infrastructure, livelihoods and natural resources at greater risk.
The Climate Ready Coasts program is helping accelerate coastal hazard adaptation planning to drive a more strategic and integrated approach to coastal management in South Australia.
The program is being led by LGA South Australia and supported by funding from the Federal Government, SA Coast Protection Board and Local Government Research and Development Scheme.
Program delivery is being supported by SA councils, the Department for Environment and Water, the Adelaide Coastal Councils Network and SA Coastal Councils Alliance.
