Final weeks to apply for strategic local road funding

10 April 2024
Local councils have just a couple of weeks left to apply for funding to support local road projects through the latest round of the Special Local Roads Program, with applications closing 29 April 2024.

The program, which is unique to South Australia, provides essential funding for strategic and significant roads in metropolitan and regional areas across the state.

Applications for the 2024-25 Special Local Roads Program must be lodged by 4pm on Monday 29 April to be considered during this round.

All applications must include a council contribution of

  • no less than one-third of the total project cost for rural and regional councils
  • no less than one-half of the total project cost for metropolitan councils.

All councils are eligible to apply.

How to apply

To apply for funding

In making its assessment of 2024-25 applications, the Local Government Transport Advisory Panel will be looking for projects which are strategic, significant and represent value for money.

Next steps

At the closure of the grant round all regional council applications will be provided to the applicable Regional LGA for comment.

LGA will review all metropolitan and regional applications before presenting to the Local Government Transport Advisory Panel for assessment.
