New i-Responda Training Modules available for councils
The i-Responda Essentials and i-Responda Bushfire Awareness online modules have been created by LGA, in collaboration with the SA Country Fire Service and LGA Mutual, to ensure councils are prepared for and are able to safely assist in emergency support activities.
Initially, these courses will be available online through Skytrust only while training is being updated for all i-Responda offerings.
Council employees will be able to participate in training once their organisation has access to these modules.
LGA gratefully acknowledges the support provided by the City of Onkaparinga Council in editing the content for an online format.
What’s still to come
The roll-out of new i-Responda modules will continue throughout 2025 and will include training for:
- water safety
- council Incident Management Teams (previously IM3)
- council Commander
- local government Liaison Officer
- plant (bushfire) training
Updates on the availability of i-Responda training will be published on the LGA website and via the Emergency Management e-Newsletter.
About the i-Responda framework
The i-Responda Framework was developed in response to the 2007 Wangary Fires, which highlighted the importance of councils as key stakeholders in emergencies due to their strong links with community and local resources.
Our training is underpinned by the key principles of the framework:
- Ordinary operations in extraordinary situations
- It’s okay to say no
- Councils manage their own resources
