Nominate for the Adelaide Cemeteries Authority Board

Previous members nominated by the LGA can be reappointed.

Successful candidates must attend 10 meetings per year held at Enfield Memorial Park. Online participation can be negotiated for regional nominees.

Eligibility

To be eligible to nominate, you must have:

• local government knowledge and experience
• commercial and business acumen.

You must be a currently serving council member or employee of a council or other local government entity (unless otherwise determined by the LGA Board of Directors).

Only nominations submitted by a council, following a resolution of council, will be considered.

Sitting fees

Sitting fees are $12,383 each year.

Read the Call for Nominations Information Sheet (Part A) for more information about the role and selection criteria.

To submit your nomination:

• complete the Nomination Form (Part B)
• attach a copy of the council resolution
• provide current CV
• respond to the selection criteria (no more than 2 pages)
• email nominationscoordinator@lga.sa.gov.au.

Applications close 3 June 2024.

Next steps

The Minister for Planning has requested the LGA’s nominees include at least one male and one female, in accordance with Section 42 of the Legislation Interpretation Act 2021

Following the close of nominations, a meeting of the LGA Nominations Committee will be convened to consider nominations received.

Recommendation from the Nominations Committee will be presented to the LGA Board of Directors for consideration.

An update will be provided to nominating councils’ CEOs once the Board of Directors has made its decision regarding nominees.

The Minister will select one appointee from the LGA’s recommendations.

About the Adelaide Cemeteries Authority Board

The Adelaide Cemeteries Authority Board is a state-level committee established under the Adelaide Cemeteries Authority Act 2001.

It comprises representatives appointed by the Minister, with one on nomination by the LGA.

The Authority looks after the administration and maintenance of public cemeteries, including:

• Cheltenham Cemetery
• Enfield Memorial Park
• West Terrace Cemetery
• Smithfield Memorial Park
