Webinar: Local Government Net Zero Accelerate Program update

Over the past year, LGA has worked with Dsquared Consulting to provide expert support to 15 councils as part of the pilot program to understand their emissions reduction profiles, identify opportunities to reduce emissions and build an emissions reduction plan.

This research has been used to create several resources which will soon be made available for councils to use.

What to expect at this workshop

Attendees will be presented with the key outcomes from the Local Government Net Zero Accelerate Program.

You will gain insight into the:

• key outcomes from the Net Zero program
• findings of the whole-of-sector carbon emissions profile
• new best practice guide to assist councils in developing emissions inventories and establishing Net Zero plans.

You will also have a chance to ask questions about the program and next steps.

About the program

The Local Government Net Zero Accelerate Program aims to build capability within councils to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to the state's emissions reduction targets.

With funding from the Department for Environment and Water and the Local Government Research and Development Scheme, this program worked collaboratively across the sector to support South Australian councils to:

• identify and report their emissions profiles
• improve knowledge, skills and confidence of councils in understanding and identifying opportunities to reduce Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions
• increase consistency in approaches to measuring and reporting emissions and actions, and to emissions reduction strategy development across councils
• improve capability in smaller, regional councils to identify and implement emissions reduction actions and strategies.

‌Who should attend

This webinar is for council management and staff who have climate change, emissions reduction or energy efficiency as part of their role.
