Input sought from councils on standpipe availability
Councils with standpipes are asked to provide feedback to a state government review of accessible standpipes and water access.
SA Water and the state government are working together to notify communities about accessible standpipes as part of a broader initiative to improve water access in SA, especially for emergency purposes, for funding considerations and currently to support drought-affected regions.
How to provide a response
To provide feedback, please complete the survey.
Survey closes: Monday, 27 October 2025 at 5pm.
Why your response is important
The project aims to:
- inform residents, especially in drought-prone areas, about where and how they can access water, and to enable community to use during emergencies
- encourage local councils to apply for funding and upgrade their standpipes
- ensure transparency and community engagement in water infrastructure planning.
Your input will assist the state government in making informed decisions about this project.
It comes as earlier this year, the state government announced $1.4 million through the Publicly Accessible Standpipe Upgrade Fund to help councils upgrade the standpipes and improve infrastructure, including automation and security features.
