Join a Net Zero Accelerate Program workshop to support a cleaner future

10 February 2025
Council staff are invited to register for second phase Net Zero Accelerate Program workshops being held between March and July.

The workshops build on the outcomes of the first phase of the program, which helped several councils identify and report on their emissions. These workshops will now support councils to incorporate emissions management into business-as-usual operations.

About the workshops

Delivered by program partner 'dsquared Consulting', the workshops will be presented in four half-day intensive sessions and will deep dive into:

  • Carbon account standards. emissions levels/scope of emissions produced, and how to identify, test, calculate and capture data through real-life case studies. Tips and tools on how to navigate emission inventory boundaries, including the geographic area, time, gases and emission sources, which are included in a carbon assessment.
  • Reduction trends, projections and reduction initiatives, with South Australian case studies examined as examples to help councils integrate into current or future emission reduction strategies.
  • Low carbon and energy efficient solutions within council infrastructure, how to embed low emissions technologies in building and asset projects and perform energy audits using emission reduction initiatives and standards.
  • Net zero pathways, setting targets and grant funding opportunities, where participants will look at sustainable pathways to reach net zero targets using local case studies, as well as analysing federal and state government goals to place councils in the best position to apply for grant funding.

These workshops will allow participants to test what they learn through the application of low emissions approaches and technologies in the review of a theoretical project.

Streamline your emissions reporting and management

Phase 2 of the program will help staff develop additional resources and training opportunities for their council and offer templates and guide notes to streamline emissions reporting and management.

The Net Zero Accelerate Program has already seen fifteen councils from across South Australia develop emission inventories and reduction plans to support greener solutions within their local council operations. A new Best-practice Guide and Local Government Sector Emissions Summary Report created, which has informed Phase 2 of the Program.

Workshops are being held in-person and online between March and July 2025.

The online virtual sessions have been created with regional councils in mind. If you're in the metropolitan area and can attend in person, that would be preferable. This will keep more online spots available for regional registrants.
