About the program
The Sustainable Communities Program is funded through the federal government and led by the Department of Primary Industries and Regions South Australia.
It is designed to mitigate the social and economic impacts of the river’s water recovery efforts under the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.
The program is informed by place-based consultation, existing stakeholder engagement, and regional and local economic development strategies and plans.
It also aligns with the community adjustment assistance principles outlined in the federal government’s Restoring Our Rivers Framework.
