$5 million for council cycling infrastructure projects
The latest round of the State Bicycle Fund, announced on 12 October, provides grants of up to $200,000 to councils to construct new paths, upgrade existing infrastructure and undertake design work for future projects.
The 16 projects span metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia, with funding supporting new and upgraded shared-use paths, safer crossings and cycling infrastructure improvements.
Some of the projects include a 3km extension of the Amy Gillett Bikeway between Birdwood and Mount Pleasant, new paths in Port Lincoln, Middleton and Streaky Bay, and improvements to cycling routes and crossings across metropolitan councils.
