LGA secures stronger voice in vegetation management review
The appointment gives LGA a direct voice in discussions about how vegetation near powerlines is managed and provides an important opportunity to put councils’ practical experience and concerns directly to SAPN and other stakeholders.
A seat at the table
The Vegetation Management Working Group provides an opportunity for LGA to ensure the local government perspective is considered as SAPN works through its approach to vegetation management.
LGA will use its position on the Working Group to advocate for practical solutions that balance network safety and reliability with the importance of retaining and increasing urban tree canopy.

Earlier this year, LGA raised concerns around SAPN’s approach to ‘non-compliant trees’ and their removal, including the impact on established urban tree canopy, the cost to councils and communities, and the apparent conflict with the State Government’s target to increase Adelaide’s tree canopy to 30 per cent by 2055.
