LGA completes major upgrade to council website platform
LGA has successfully migrated its Squiz platform to a new highly available infrastructure provisioned on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Working with long-standing digital provider Squiz, LGA has moved council websites to the Squiz Digital Experience Platform (DXP) - providing councils with a modern, secure and fully managed environment designed to improve performance, security and usability.
The first phase of the migration is now complete, with more than 140 council websites running on the new platform.
Council staff have already reported noticeable improvements in the responsiveness of the editing console following the move to AWS.
Phase two of the migration will now begin, with LGA continuing to work closely with Squiz to streamline and optimise customisations within the current system. This work will modernise the platform architecture, remove unnecessary complexity and create a future-proofed framework that delivers long-term value for councils.
LGA provides this cost-effective technology to councils across South Australia, with around 80 per cent of council websites hosted on the LGA Squiz platform. The shared service model helps councils reduce costs by up to 90 per cent compared with traditional web hosting, security and software solutions.
