The LGA administers, and provides strategic input to, a number of grants programs that fund different projects and priorities for the local government sector.

Some grants programs, such as the Local Government Research & Development Scheme, fund projects that will provide a strategic benefit to the local government sector as a whole and better equip councils to serve their communities.

Other grants programs, such as the Special Local Roads Program, fund projects that have been identified as priority projects by a panel of assessors including local government representatives.

All of the grants programs that the LGA are involved with seek to harness the in-depth knowledge of the local government sector, including knowledge of local challenges and opportunities, to ensure funding provides maximum benefit to the communities that need it most.
