Give feedback to inform Climate Ready Regions project

26 February 2025
A new discussion paper has been developed to seek feedback as part of the SA Climate Ready Regions project.

The Climate Ready Regions Discussion Paper (PDF 1.8 MB) explores:

  • drivers for evolving our structured partnership program to collaborate on climate
  • opportunities to build on and evolve our current model.

Your feedback will test our findings so far and guide the next stage. Next steps include defining potential partners’ needs and appetite to engage in a new era of regional climate collaboration.

A comprehensive Climate Ready Regions Background Report (PDF 2.7 MB) is also available. It goes into more detail about what has informed the discussion paper.

How to provide feedback

About the Climate Ready Regions project

The Climate Ready Regions project aims to evolve and expand collaboration to address climate change.

To evolve we need to learn from existing and alternative collaborative approaches. We also need to mature the model to make sure it supports all regions to tackle the most important climate challenges.

To expand we must develop pathways for regional climate collaboration to return to a genuinely statewide approach.

The Climate Ready Regions project is a joint initiative of the Department for Environment and Water, Green Adelaide, and LGA South Australia. Funding is from the Australian Government’s Disaster Ready Fund.

Program model and business case

The Climate Ready Regions project will develop an evolved program model and business case for co-investment. This is planned for delivery by September 2025.

This process has already been informed by:

  • a review of the context, history, emerging trends, opportunities, and strategic drivers
  • an analysis of existing Regional Climate Partnerships (RCPs)
  • an exploration of alternative models and frameworks
  • workshops and conversations with climate practitioners to explore the challenges and opportunities and collectively define why a change is needed.

The project partners are now seeking broader perspectives through the discussion paper feedback. This will guide the direction and development of the business case.
