Nominations closing soon for award championing government collaborators

12 August 2026
With just two weeks remaining, nominations are set to close for the 2026 Jim Hullick Award, which celebrates public servants who have led extraordinary outcomes in partnership with South Australian councils.

Named in honour of LGA’s former long-serving Chief Executive Officer Jim Hullick, the award recognises individuals from local, state and federal government who have gone above and beyond to collaborate with councils on projects that have made a difference in communities.

LGA Chief Executive Officer Victoria MacKirdy said effective partnerships between governments was essential to achieving positive outcomes for South Australians and building strong communities.

“The Jim Hullick Award shines a light on the outstanding public servants in state and federal government who work closely and collaboratively with councils to turn shared ideas into tangible outcomes for South Australians,” Ms MacKirdy said.

“Whether it's delivering new infrastructure, improving essential services or supporting community wellbeing, the best results happen when governments work together with a shared purpose.

“Not only does this Award showcase innovation happening across the state – importantly, it recognises individuals who have partnered to solve challenges and enabled better decisions that benefit metropolitan and regional communities in South Australia.”

Previous winners include public sector staff from within the South Australian Department for Environment and Water, South Australian Police, Office of the Small Business Commissioner, Electoral Commission of South Australia, and Department for Premier and Cabinet.

Nominations for the Jim Hullick Award are open until Sunday 30 August 2026 and can be submitted via the LGA website.

The late Jim Hullick OAM was LGA South Australia’s Chief Executive Officer from 1976 to 1997.
